Please meet Claire
This is Claire Moulijn. Claire founded FAAMIEUX, when she was 22, during the early stages of Covid19. Her ambition is to offer high-quality, sustainable but also well-priced scarves. The idea for this arose while completing her MBA in Fashion, in Rome. After research Claire discovered the fabric cupro. A silky fabric with a better environmental impact. Because of her master’s degree and experience with the beauty of Italian fashion, that country was a logical choice as a production country.
FAAMIEUX produces its hand-finished scarves in the north of Italy. The first factory ‘prints’ the fabric with the design designed by FAAMIEUX. After this, the fabric is cut by the second factory and finished by hand. Both the logo and the hem are handmade. In addition to the attention paid to the quality of the product, the working conditions for the employees are important. The factories with which FAAMIEUX works have almost a century of experience in producing high quality clothing and accessories. The factories produce for Dolce & Gabanna, Gucci and Givenchy, among others.
Sustainability is central to FAAMEIUX. FAAMIEUX works plastic-free, with vegan products that can be recycled. Sustainability is a continuous process at FAAMIEUX. To reinforce its policy, FAAMIEUX donates 1% of its turnover to ‘1% for the planet’, an initiative started by the owners of Bleu Ribben and Patagonia. This organization raises money worldwide. This will ultimately be spent on sustainability and the protection of nature.
FAAMIEUX only works with materials that are already or can be recycled. The scarves are made of cupro and viscose and are recyclable. The cardboard part has already been recycled and can be recycled again. The metal caps on the top and bottom can be recycled after separation. The box in which the product is sent is FSC certified. This means that the cardboard comes from forests where nature is preserved. All products that FAAMIEUX works with come from Europe.
FAAMIEUX only works with vegan fabrics.
Silk is a shiny, luxurious fabric that is often used in the fashion industry. However, silk is not vegan. The cocoon of the silkworm is used to produce this substance. For this, silkworms are bred on a large scale. After the caterpillars have spun a cocoon, they are boiled alive with their cocoon. During this process, the caterpillar does not survive.
FAAMIEUX, on the other hand, works with a vegan option. The fabric has the same look and feel. The fabric with which FAAMIEUX works consists of 53% cupro and 47% viscose. Cupro is made from cellulose, the main component of various plants such as cotton and bamboo. Viscose is made from natural wood fibers and is also known as artificial silk. Both substances are completely biodegradable and the waste that is released during the process is almost completely recycled. The ecological footprint of cupro and viscose is therefore the same. Cupro breathes and absorbs moisture. In addition, it is thermo-regulating and hypoallergenic, which means that it dries quickly. The fabric keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. This fabric combination is therefore good for the environment and for your skin. In addition, the fabric is practical to use and can simply be washed in the washing machine.
FAAMIEUX conducts business honestly, transparently and sustainably. This is why FAAMIEUX has the scarves produced in Italy. The factories have safe working conditions for their employees who are paid in line with the market. The same applies to the employees employed by FAAMIEUX and the companies with which FAAMIEUX collaborates.
1% for the planet
1% for the Planet is an alliance of companies that recognize the need to protect the natural environment. These companies are aware of the social and environmental impact of the industry. The charities affiliated with this charity each donate 1% of the turnover. This donation is ultimately used during natural disasters, nature conservation and sustainability.
“The goal of 1% for the planet is to help fund various environmental organizations so that together they can be a powerful resource in addressing environmental issues”
